Sofi Villaluenga
Hello! My name is Sofi Villaluenga, and I’m a second-year Master of Social Work intern from UT Austin. I’ve worked across multiple systems, including child welfare, immigration law, county-level behavioral health, and higher education. These experiences have given me a deep understanding of systemic barriers and grounded my practice in culturally responsive, strengths-based care. As a Latina immigrant and native Spanish speaker, I understand firsthand how cultural barriers and systemic neglect can affect a family’s experience navigating mental health and legal systems. That background informs my ongoing commitment to culturally informed care and advocacy. My goal is to help expand access to affirming mental health services for communities historically excluded from care, especially children, young adults, and immigrant families.
This spring and summer, I’m taking a mezzo-level approach to clinical work by focusing on teacher wellness and professional sustainability. Through a training series and support group model, I aim to hold space for educators as they navigate burnout, systemic stressors, and compassion fatigue. I’m excited to be part of a practice that values authenticity, connection, and community-rooted care.
